How to make a pom pom wreath for any holiday in three steps

This year when I started to decorate for Christmas I realized that after many years of more of a farmhouse neutral Christmas I was ready for some pops of color. I decided Christmas this year needed to have the color red as its star.

When switching up my themes every year I always keep budget top of mind. That is why I decided to make a wreath that would not only be perfect for Christmas but also Valentine’s Day. Now before this wreath I had never made pom poms before. I can’t believe how easy it was. Read here how to make pom poms in just 4 steps. Let’s get started.

Today I am joining in with a bunch of other bloggers to show off our Christmas Wreaths. Make sure you stick around until the very end to see what wreaths they made.

Here’s what you’ll need

Step 1: Make Pom Poms

Never made pom poms before? Check out how to make pom poms with a pom pom maker here.

When choosing my yarn I decided on two shades of red. One more a true red and the other more of a maroon. I thought it would give the wreath more depth and dimension.

Now I will say making this many pom poms was more time consuming than I thought. I suggest throw on a movie or two and do it mindlessly. It’s also a great sick day activity if you are stuck on the couch.

For this wreath I used the two larger size pom pom makers. Making equal parts red and maroon pom poms.

Step 2: Attach Pom Poms to wreath form

When you make the pom poms you leave a bit of string from tying the yarn together. Use this string to tie your pom pom on to the wire wreath form. When your pom poms are in position and tied to the wire form tie your pom poms to each other to secure their place on the wreath.

Step 3: Hang Wreath

Using an extra piece of yarn tie a loop for hanging on the wreath form. Hang your wreath from your front door or blank wall in your house. This wreath can be made with many variations of color for any season or holiday.
