Engagement Party Banner

DIY Engagement Banner

Back in October my brother and his girlfriend got engaged after being together for 10 years! So an engagement party was definitely in order. We kept it small with just immediate family at my house, which is small so I couldn't fit much more than that! The week before Michaels was having one of their crazy sales on scrapbook paper with an additional coupon for your whole purchase. So needless to say I had a lot of paper on hand including this gorgeous metallic gold.

What's an engagement party without a handmade banner to make the couple feel special? Also it's the second Monday of the month. You know what that means right? It's the Silhouette Challenge! This months theme was parties so make sure you stick around until the end for 18 party projects all made from a Silhouette!

So I got out my Silhouette Cameo and made a quick design using a flag I had created for another banner. I often pick up old files and manipulate them for a new project. Always save your projects at the beginning I didn't and I always want to go back for something! Saves a lot of time!

Also when you are creating these "flags" for the banner make sure to add small circles for the ribbon so you don't have to hole bunch them later to hang.

Silhouette Cardstock cut settings

I like to take advantage of the presets silhouette has provided. Sometimes you must make adjustments but for the most part they work great. For cardstock you are going set your blade at 4 your speed at 3 and the thickness at 33. Now if you want to cut it a bit faster you can move your speed up slightly but 3 worked for me.

Once you have cut your letters ( I only cut 4 per 12x12 sheet) weed out the letter and holes before peeling up the flag.

To really make the letters pop off the gold flag I created a backing. Measuring the largest letter and cutting squares to that measurement on the silhouette.

Now using a double stick tape, in this case scrappy tape, a glue stick would work fine too. Adhere the square to the back of each flag! This is a simple and quick banner that will impress and should take you no time at all!

Jeff and Danielle loved it and were surprised when they showed up.

What engagement celebration is complete with out champagne?! Using the same font and colors I created a quick tag to match the party decor.
