I woke up this morning and had to put a sweatshirt on….it’s official summer is over. It’s weird because I haven’t felt this way the past two years. Being a northern transplant in the south there was not much of a difference between Summer and Fall but back in New England I feel the weather starting to change, I can even smell the difference in the air.

Fall is the time of year I would always start to get homesick in Savannah. It is my favorite season the one that I have missed the most. So why am I so sad to see Summer go? I think it is because I had my Summer all planned out between my 10 week internship, a trip to Canada, a friends wedding and then ending the Summer with the artist residency in Nantucket. Now that all of that is passed I have no plans for the Fall. I just have that dreaded feeling that the Fall comes with big decisions and a lot of job searching.

With job searching aside my goal for the fall is to continue to craft and revive old furniture. With the end goal of having a booth at some local artisan and craft shows in the New England area. In order to do this I have to search for items to revive or upcycle.

I am very excited to be waking up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to head to Brimfield. Brimfield is the largest outdoor antiques show in the country, spanning over a mile down route 20 and at least a ¼ mile back.  With this small town with only a population of 3,000 during the antique show it brings in over 250,000 people and 5,000 dealers in only 7 days.  Just describing this does not put the correct image in your head it is something that you must experience. The show runs until Sunday or there is always next year. Also best tip find the booth that sells the apple cider donuts. They alone are worth the drive out to Brimfield. Pictures and new projects to follow!

2014 Show Dates
May 13-18
July 8-13
September 2-7
