For the second time I am honored to be apart of the Bloggers Heart Habitat project. This December I was lucky enough to team up with a five other bloggers to decorate and style two rooms in a Habitat for Humanity house. Myself and Lauren from LaurenMcbride.com took on the master bedroom. So grab a cup of coffee and let us take you through this red and bold master bedroom reveal.

This is the second home I have been involved in styling and decorating. Each time we get a pinterest board from the owner that showcases their personal style. Well did this homeowner have style. She loves bold colors like red and she loves everything GLAM! Lauren and I took that and ran with it but also adding pieces that would allow the room to be timeless and chic, maybe adding a little farmhouse style in there too.

We worked with Raymour & Flanigan who graciously donated a lot of the rooms furniture including.

Chadwell King Size Bed
Chadwell Dresser
Chadwell Mirrored Nightstands
Zen White Area Rug

Since the furniture was bold and impactful I mixed in warm wood tones to soften the walls. I found these amazing floating shelves on clearance at Target. I even bought four of them for my own living room after seeing them in this space.

Now I love to add plants to a room to complete it. I don’t get to do this too often anymore since my cats like to eat them. I picked up an air plant at the local nursery in my town and this geometric holder placing it on this small gold tray. An air plant is pretty low maintenance you just have to drop it into water once or twice a week and they’ll last for years.

Now our homeowner loved red. Her pinterest was all red everything she even expressed interest in painting a red accent wall behind her bed in the future. With this in mind we decided to pop a lot of the accents with red incase she did paint the accent wall. Creating a neutral base for the room with the furniture and bedding and tying the red in with the winter berries, bench, wreath, curtains, pillows and throws.

My favorite part of the day was when she walked in and said “accent wall forget the accent wall this is perfect!” It just shows how much of a difference the details can make when everything comes together. What we really were hoping to accomplish in this house was to create a home. A place of comfort. The homeowner is such a hard worker, raising a family and on top of it all she is going to school. I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving for this room. I truly hope it’s her sanctuary. A place to not only rest but to recharge or relax.

I picked up these sculptural paper flowers. I was so inspired by them I might actually try to make them for my house. Again I pulled in the warm wood tones to lighten up the space and also tying in the art work the warm khaki tones in the medallion pattern of of curtain.
