I realize that today is the 2 month anniversary of the blog! I want to thank those of you who have taken the time to read the blog and like our facebook page. I hope to continue working on projects and and writing blog posts for years to come. As always feel free to reach out to me via facebook or the about section of the website.

October proves to be one of my busiest months. I realized when starting this blog it may be hard to constantly create original content if my freelancing schedule picked up. In the past 2 weeks I have freelanced 126 hours. That may be a new record for myself. I think of all the things that I can do with that money, like pay back my student loans, but we all know I will end up spending it on more items to refinish. As if my garage and project list wasn’t full enough.

Recently my brother bought me a gift, Annie Sloan chalk paint! He knows me so well. I have fallen in love with this paint. I only have one color because it is quite pricey. So I have been looking for a cheaper alternative.

A friend of mine has told me about a store in Leominster, MA , Vintage Updo’s, that sells a lot of refinished shabby chic style furniture. Once I friended them on facebook I learned that they carried Shabby Paints. Which seems like a cheaper alternative to Annie Sloan.  Shabby paints are made in the U.S. with acrylic raw materials and have no VOC, no BPA , no heavy metals and supposedly have an amazing velvety chalk finish. Since pay day is Friday I am going to be going up to Leominster this weekend to check it out. Will post what I find and the colors I end up getting. Who knows maybe I will even try a crackle or a wax!

While I am working a ton it doesn’t mean that I can’t go over to savers on my lunch break and pick up a few things 😉 This is a bar stool I scored for 5.99. My sister has the exact same barstool so now she will have a matching set when she makes that breakfast nook in her kitchen. All we need to do now is refinish them.
