How is Haven only two days away?! For those of you who don’t know what Haven is, it’s a DIY and Home Blogging Conference in Atlanta July 10-12. This is the first blogging conference that I am attending so of course I am working up to the last minute to get everything ready. My business cards just arrived yesterday along with a slew of other items from Amazon for the conference.

I kept thinking to myself everyone is going to have business cards what can I do to stand out? Well the idea came to me in a form of a pin. You see my brother just bought a pin maker. Why I have no idea but it was perfect timing for me to borrow it.

I often refer to myself as a Weekend Crafter. In fact I was using that hashtag long before I even had a blog. It’s actually how Weekend Craft got its name. While I am a Weekend Crafter my guess is that most of Haven’s attendants are too! So why not make a pin to let everyone know what we do on our weekends!

Breaking out my favorite tool. I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo and Silhouette connect (using Adobe Illustrator) to create a 1 inch button using the print and cut feature.

Making a pin was easier than I thought I purchased the pin, clear cover cellophane and the pin back.

There is really three simple steps to making a pin.

Step One- Creating the art work.

Step Two- Placing the metal back, artwork and clear cellophane into the first slot. Pulling down the handle.

Step Three- Placing the pin backing pin down into the slot. Sliding over second slot and pulling down the handle again. And then you have a pin!

So if you are going to be at Haven make sure to seek me out! I will have between 50-75 pins to give out with my business cards! I can’t wait to meet all the DIY bloggers out there!

Sharing is caring!

  1. I remember getting a pin from you at Haven last year, and proudly displaying it throughout the weekend! It’s such a fun way to make your business cards stand out, and just to get people excited 🙂

  2. How does the silhouette cameo work for buttons? Does it print the image from adobe like a normal printer? I watched some videos but they were making stencils.

  3. I cant find the adobe Ill. program your talking about. Thank you p.s. cute buttons, also what kind of press do you have and do you like it? Where did you purchase it?
