My friend’s sister recently turned thirty. They were having a small get together at a restaurant and wanted to decorate the table in a way that made her feel special on her day but was also very easy to clean up. Let’s face it restaurants hate confetti. That’s where I came in she asked if there was any way to make large confetti…. (insert baffled look from me). With a pack of glitter card stock at hand I made 5 inch confetti. Yup 5 inches and they looked awesome! Who knew!

Luckily my Silhouette Cameo did most of the work I just needed to design the wording so each letter touched keeping the words connected. I did this in Adobe Illustrator using Silhouette Connect but don’t worry you can also do this in the Silhouette Studio.

Now I knew the weeding was going to be intricate and with a few to a page I decided to create weeding boxes. I create these on almost all my designs. What’s a weeding box? It’s when you create a box around your design that make it easier to work with (especially vinyl) when you need to “weed” out the excess material to get to your cut/design.

Now I had never cut glitter cardstock before. I had a few issues with the texture and thickness of the paper. It took a lot of trial and error before I found the perfect cut setting. Let me tell you I have never had my blade up this high before but this paper was thick! The setting I used was blade 9 > speed 5 > thickness 33.

Isn’t this paper stunning?! So glad I ended up buying a whole pack of all different colors. I am definitely using it again.

Look at all those beautiful weeding boxes 😉

Carefully lift off the boxes and excess paper. Now I bumped up the thickness of my letters before welding them together. This created a sturdier and more durable confetti.

The confetti was a huge hit at the dinner. I am going to make these for every occasion now! Was a simple idea that took less than an hour. I have a few showers coming up I bet large confetti will make an appearance in one way or another!

Sharing is caring!

  3. Omgosh. I never thought to use my Silhouette to make my own glitter confetti. Totally love this idea. Pinned.
