Here’s what you’ll need

Since this is a gift for my mom and she loves candles I decided to buy one of her favorite Yankee Candles. This first thing I did was to clean off the jar with rubbing alcohol. This just removes any dirt or residue that could inhibit the vinyl from adhering to the jar.

Now you can design a phrase yourself in Cricut design space or you can use my cut file here.

Double check the size of you lettering to your candle jar then click make it. Select your machine and your material. Load your light grip mat with your vinyl on it into the Cricut. Press the flashing Cricut to start the machine.

Once your Cricut is done cutting unload the mat and start weeding excess vinyl. The more complicated the font the more careful you want to be with weeding the details. Using the hook tool or the tip of an exacto knife is the best way to weed.

Cut your transfer tape to size. Slowly peel back the backing and adhere it to the front of your vinyl.

Tip: Once your ready to transfer. Place the transfer tape down on the table and peel back the backing on the vinyl. Peeling the backing off this way helps keep the vinyl adhered to the transfer tape.

Place the transfer tape on to candle jar. Using your scraper tool or credit card lightly rub your vinyl onto the candle. Peel off the transfer tape and you have a customized candle.

Imagine all the endless custom/personalized gift possibilities using candles or this technique on mason jars.

Now if you have thought about getting a Cricut or are still thinking about it. I would say enter the giveaway below and go for it. My Cricut’s have allowed me to be a thoughtful gift giver and have helped me explore my creative side as a crafter.
