Plus size clothing has always been a passion of mine. I shop, I get dressed, so why not share it. Recently I started the Instagram account Weekend.Closet chronicling my plus size fashion journey.
Did you know you could shop my closet? Check out some of my latest finds here.
The weather is starting to warm up here in New England. The weatherman has been teasing us with days of Spring weather than back to freezing. But those glimpses of Spring have me buying all the Spring and Summer plus size dresses.

1. Floral

The beginning of Spring signifies new beginnings which always reminds us of the new life blooming. Which to me means flowers! Finding one floral dress is always a quest of mine. Usually the dress will work perfectly for Easter.
I am short about 5’1 and the A flowy chiffon midi dress is almost a maxi dress on me which I love. Finding a maxi dress that isn’t too long is a challenge. The a faux wrap design accentuates my curves and the ruffles at neckline and hem add a bit of fun and movement to the dress.
Often with Spring and Summer dresses sleeves are hard to find but these sheer flutter sleeves are perfect. The dress is lined to knee which is perfect when it’s still a bit chilly in New England.

2. Pop of color

To know what colors work with your complexion are important. I remember when I was in Girl Scouts we had our colors done. I was in the warm palette when it came to makeup and jewel tones in terms of clothing.
When buying new pieces I tend to buy a few new dresses that will really pop with my hair and skin tone and this purple just happens to be that dress for me this season. Unfortunately it is sold out from Torrid but here is a different dress in the same color.
3. Casual

What I love about dresses is you can wear them to be comfortable. Whether you are traveling, it’s hot out or you just want to look put together with minimal effort. Jersey dresses are a staple in my summer wardrobe. They can work for the office with a cardigan or light jacket and they can transition to running errands.
Having a few jersey dress in your closet is essential for warmer weather. Be on the look out at Old Navy because they love doing deals of the day on these. I got this one for only $8.

4. Layering

I love layering dresses with jackets. Whether it is a denim jacket or a moto jacket. It has almost become my Spring uniform over the years. It’s a great way to look put together and mix and match pieces.
I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe and having multiple pieces that are interchangeable are key.

5. Office Friendly

Last but certainly not least is adding dresses to your wardrobe that are work appropriate. Maybe I wouldn’t wear a leopard spaghetti strap to the office but I would wear this floral split neck pocket dress from Loft with these sandals.
The key to dressing for work is realizing what’s appropriate for the office. Think about length, straps, cut and cleavage. If it passes all of those you are good to go.
