A blue, green and gold Christmas tree decorated with satin, golden beads and florals. This Christmas tree is so beautiful it could be in a window display.

It’s no secret that my favorite colors to decorate with are teal and green. This year instead of switching up my everyday decor for Christmas. I wanted my Christmas decor to compliment my everyday decor. Which is a lot of greens, blues, golds and teals.

Inspiration

Every year I decorate my Christmas trees a bit different. I try to use a lot of the same decor that I have on hand but swap out the ribbon. This year I was telling myself I was just going to use what I had on hand. Well once I saw this Nordic inspired ornament. I had a vision for an entirely different Christmas tree this year with blue, greens and golds.

I wanted to make sure that the tree was very elegant and didn’t err on the side of too masculine or cold. The satin “ribbons”, warm led lights and the gold tones help warm up the tree. As well as the blue eucalyptus helps soften the tree a bit.

Best Place To Buy A Flocked Christmas Tree

I have owned many flocked artificial Christmas trees and I bought a new tree two years ago that I have had my eye on for years. This Queen slim flocked Christmas tree is beautiful. It’s so full and the flocking doesn’t shed a lot when putting it up. This is now my fourth tree from King of Christmas. I have to say their quality is great and you can usually find their trees on sale or an open box tree.

Have you always had a real Christmas tree and thinking about getting an artificial tree? Or just looking for a new artificial tree? Make sure you check out my guide to buying an artificial Christmas tree.

Now I know this Christmas tree is a bit tall for my space but I got a great deal on it during a Christmas in July sale and I know I am not in my forever home. So I am ok with my tree topper being this close to the ceiling for now. A 6.5 ft Christmas tree would’ve worked perfectly in this space opposed to a 7 ft tree.

Ribbon Alternative

I love to keep an eye out on trends and what professional Christmas tree decorators are using. I noticed on a lot of large scale trees that satin fabric was being used instead of traditional ribbon.

Now I’ve used satin ribbon in the past (like on this tree) but this was much more substantial. This is where I stumbled upon the hack of using table runners as an alternative to ribbon. I ordered these table runners. This tree used five table runners. I can honestly say this made such an impact on the overall look of the tree I am not sure if I can ever go back to just ribbon.

I added some ribbon in each tier of the tree. Using two ribbons and some floral wire to make some looped “bows.” At first I was a little panic’d that it was looking like an 80’s prom dress. But I trusted my vision and love the additional depth and visual interest it gives the tree.

Adding Florals To A Christmas Tree

While I love adding sprigs of red berries or pine cones to my Christmas trees I have never added faux florals. I found these gorgeous blue eucalyptus sprigs at Joann’s and they were on clearance. Apparently they were part of the Fall decor collection. They are a beautiful matte color and best part is they were 70% off making them less than 60 cents a spring. I I truly think they are a beautiful addition and focal point for the tree.

Adding floral picks to your Christmas tree is a great way to fill in gaps or holes. Older trees or cheaper trees can tend to look a bit sparse and its a great way to add fullness or volume to your Christmas tree.

Garland

I always love to added in a beaded garland in between layers of ribbon. This year I added a gold glittered beaded garland. I love how this garland looks layered against the flocked tree.

Mirrored Star Tree Topper

What is an elegant Christmas tree with out a stunning tree topper. I’ve had this gold mirrored star topper for a few years. I love the shape of it and it gives off a bit of an art deco vibe. Here is a similar gold mirrored star tree topper and a similar Christmas tree topper in black.
