Green Christmas tree decorated with lush green velvet ribbon, green and gold ornaments and a mirrored star tree topper.

This years Christmas tree is green. Yes that’s right a green Christmas tree with gold accents. After last years Christmas tree I am craving a traditional Christmas again. Or at least that is what I thought. I started to think of reds and greens with some metallics but my mind just stopped at green. While it may not be completely groundbreaking it doesn’t feel completely traditional. It feels upscale and elegant.

Christmas Tree Theme Inspiration

Every year I pick a different theme for my Christmas trees. This year instead of switching up my everyday decor for Christmas. I wanted my Christmas decor to compliment my decor. Which is a lot of greens, brass and teals.

green Christmas wreath

I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do until I saw this wreath. It is absolute perfection. The mix of different shades of green with gold. I saved this photo in my phone for the last two months. Then I stumbled upon this green 3.5 inch velvet ribbon at Michaels. I knew I was meant to have a green Christmas tree this year. The velvet has an elegant and sophisticated feel.

Artificial Christmas Tree

I bought a new Christmas tree this year! A flocked artificial tree that I have had my eye on for years. This Queen slim flocked Christmas tree is beautiful. It’s so full and the flocking doesn’t shed a ton after you put it up. This is now my fourth tree from King of Christmas. I have to say their quality is great and you can usually find their trees on sale or an open box tree.

Green Velvet Ribbon

The rich green ribbon really pulls this tree together. The contrast of the green on the white flocking helps the ribbon stand out. I don’t think it would’ve made the same impact on a non flocked tree. This ribbon is a 3.5 inch wired ribbon from Michaels. A 2.5 inch wired ribbon would’ve worked nicely as well.

Green and Gold Christmas Ornaments

While green is the main color of my tree I wanted to accent it with gold metallics. I used different shades of greens, light teals and gold ornaments. Here are some of the ornaments I used.

I absolutely love how this tree came out. My one warning would be that at night the green ribbon does look very dark almost black. It doesn’t bother me I love the dramatic look.

Christmas Tree Topper

To finish off the tree I adorned the top with a mirrored star Christmas tree topper. I love that the modern star compliments the different star ornaments that are on the tree. This tree topper also lights up.

  1. Really love this! It feels like a tree you’d see in the lobby of a super fancy hotel! Or a fancy restaurant!
