A green and gold pencil Christmas tree decorate primarily with gold ornaments and green accents. A beautiful way to decorate a flocked pencil Christmas tree.

Green and Gold Pencil Christmas Tree

My pencil Christmas tree is always one of my favorite trees to decorate. This year I wanted it to compliment my main tree which is a green Christmas tree with lush green velvet ribbon, gold glitter garland, green and gold ornaments. To accent this tree I decorated it with mostly gold ornaments and added in shades of green ornaments.

This Christmas tree is a  flocked pencil tree is from King of Christmas. It’s great quality I bought it a few years back on an after Christmas sale. I love having two Christmas trees in the living room. The pencil tree makes a great addition and tucks perfectly into this corner.

Recently I have been updating all my tree skirts to tree collars. This seagrass tree collar is the perfect size for a pencil tree.   Are you looking for a tree collar? Check out some of my favorites here

Adding Ribbon to your Christmas Tree

With a pencil Christmas tree I don’t love the way wrapping it in ribbon looks. Here is a great alternative. Cut the ribbon into 12 and 18 inch long strips and tucked them into the tree. Mimicking how a tree would be wrapped in ribbon placing it at a diagonal angle. It looks great and you would never know the difference. I actually think it looks better.

This ribbon is a beautiful gold and cream buffalo check plaid pattern. It’s a wired ribbon from Joanns 2.5 inches wide and the roll was about 25 feet. Less than one roll was used on this whole pencil tree.

Star Christmas Tree Topper

Tree Topper

Picking the perfect Christmas tree topper can be hard. It is all about scale. This Kurt Adler tree topper is perfect size for a pencil tree. When it comes to tree toppers I am picky. Mostly because the commercial ones at big box stores tend to be a bit tacky. I usually will try to find something else to repurpose as a tree topper. For my sunporch tree I use a mirrored star that is actually a wall hanging I found at a local vintage shop years ago and modified it to become a tree topper.

Put a Bird on it

My parents have two white doves on their Christmas tree. It was a wedding gift and the two birds are connected by a ring they carry in their beaks. To me every tree I have needs a bird or 12. It’s just something that makes me nostalgic for that family tree. This year I placed this beautiful owl ornament near the top of my tree.

Green and Gold Ornaments

Overall I love the look of this tree and how it accents my main green Christmas tree. Staying with a more gold color palette truly let this tree shine without clashing with my main Christmas tree.

Gold is the main color of my tree so let’s accent it with green. Using different shades of greens, light teals and gold ornaments.
