Tips on throwing a tea party. From what tea to serve and how to make tea sandwiches.

High Tea Party

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment , but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DowntonAbbeyAtWalmart  https://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Downton Abbey DVD is out, you can get it at Walmart or Walmart.com. It’s time to celebrate I am inviting a few Downton Abbey friends over to watch the movie and enjoy a high tea. I have pulled out all the stops and I want to show you how to throw a high tea party. What tea to serve and even two recipes for my favorite tea sandwiches.

The whole time in the kitchen I just imagined I was Ms. Patmore bossing around Daisy. Daisy might just be my favorite character since season 1. It was great to see all the characters you love back together again. I felt a void after Downton Abbey ended it was so great to see them back on my TV, it felt complete again. Who else misses the show? Head to Walmart and purchase the new release of Downton Abbey DVD today!

High Tea Party

Which tea to serve at a high tea

Deciding what tea to serve is all about variety. Your guest might not have the same tastes as you. I suggest to have black tea, herbal tea and white tea. Here are some of the varieties I choose.

  • Earl Grey
  • English Breakfast
  • Chamomile
  • Mint
  • Darjeeling
  • Oolong

Also thinking about having a tea alternative like a sparkling beverage or coffee. Just incase someone is just there for the tea sandwiches.

Tea Sandwiches

What food to serve at a high tea party

Tea parties are not only about the tea but they are mostly about the delicious finger food. There is just something so refined about crustless sandwiches and beautifully crafted miniature desserts.

  • Tea Sandwiches
    • Prosciutto, fig, apple and goat cheese (recipe below)
    • Lemon, dill and cucumber (recipe below)
  • Scones with lemon curd and clotted cream
  • Variety of desserts such as petit fours

Fig, Apple and Prosciutto Tea Sandwiches

Prosciutto, Fig, Apple and Goat Cheese Tea Sandwiches

I went to high tea about a year ago for mother’s day and had these amazing prosciutto and fig tea sandwiches. A year later I have not been able to get them out of my head and I just don’t even remember completely what was on them. Well when trying to recreate them I think I made an even better tea sandwich with prosciutto, fig, apple and goat cheese.

Lemon Dill and Cucumber Tea Sandwich

Lemon, Dill and Cucumber Tea Sandwich

A staple at every high tea I have ever attended was a cucumber tea sandwich. I decided to put a twist on the classic and make an open face lemon, dill and cucumber tea sandwich. The tanginess of the lemon and the coolness of the cucumber just dance on your palette.
