The best shake and bake pork chops from scratch! Tender, juicy and perfect for busy weeknights or a fancy tasty dinner.

A shake and bake pork chop is plated on a white plate, partially sliced, next to some broccoli and cauliflower, more pork chops and a larger white dish of broccoli and cauliflower are in the background.

As a child of the 90’s I have a certain nostalgia for a box of shake and bake pork chops. My mom used to make them at least once a week because they were perfect for a quick weeknight dinner for the whole family. I knew I wanted to create a healthier, homemade version of this classic recipe. I used simple ingredients to create homemade spice blend  that packs in so much flavor to add to my bread crumb mixture. The result is delicious, juicy pork chops that are cooked to golden brown perfection.

The best part about this great recipe is that it’s an easy dinner with easy clean up! I kept this as an easy recipe by using the traditional shaking method using a ziploc bag or a plastic bag. Just add the ingredients, shake and when finished throw the bag of leftover shake away – no dishes involved! This recipe for shake and bake pork chops will become one of your new favorite things to make and hopefully will become part of your regular rotation.

Shake and Bake Pork Chops Ingredients

  • Boneless Pork Chops – I prefer thin cut boneless chops for this recipe about an inch thick.
  • Oil – I use olive oil, but vegetable oil or a tablespoon of melted butter will also work
  • Pork Chop Seasoning Mix – Besides the standard kosher salt & black pepper, my go to spices for this seasoning blend are paprika, garlic powder and onion powder
  • Bread Crumbs – I prefer to use plain bread crumbs as opposed to panko breadcrumbs because it creates a more crispy coating

How to Make Shake and Bake Pork Chops

Preheat oven to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet or sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Combine the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder with bread crumbs in a large Ziploc bag. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Use olive oil to coat pork chops.

Place one pork chop into the bag of bread crumbs and gently shake. Once coated place it on the baking sheet. Repeat with each pork chop.

Bake at 425ºF for 20-25 minutes. The internal temperature of the meat should reach 145°F. For best results, let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving.
