Strawberry butter ingredients
- Softened Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
- Fresh Strawberries
- Honey
Because this recipe also has honey in it it could technically be called a strawberry honey butter. I have also seen recipes that use confectioners’ sugar instead of honey. I like to control the sweetness level with honey.
Why use unsalted butter?
With a compound butter or flavored butter you want to be able to control the amount of salt. Since we are making a strawberry recipe which is on the sweet side unsalted butter is a better choice. All butter is delicious butter but unsalted is preferred.
How to make strawberry butter
Add softened butter to a small bowl. Mix until smooth. In a blender or food processor add strawberries and honey. Blend until the strawberries and honey are pureed. Essentially making a strawberry sauce.
Add strawberry puree into your bowl and mix until combined. Or you can add the softened butter into your blender or food processor for more of a whipped butter. You can also use a stand mixer.
Once combined lay out a piece of plastic wrap on a cutting board. Shape your butter into a log or tube like shape in the center of the plastic wrap. Wrap the plastic wrap tightly around it and twist the ends like a tootsie roll. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight until it firms up.
Slice butter and serve with baked goods. Strawberry compound butter is great on scones, pancakes, biscuits, waffles, french toast, fresh bread, english muffins and so much more.
