This maple glazed ham creates the most incredible sticky glaze for an impressive main dish to serve at any family dinner or holiday party. For this delicious maple glaze I like to use a few simple ingredients which is easily customizable and tastes fresher than the commercial brown sugar glaze that typically comes packaged with the ham. The combination of maple syrup, brown sugar and Dijon mustard won’t disappoint!

Maple Glaze Ingredients
- Spiral Cut Ham – A fully cooked ham, I always prefer bone-in over a boneless spiral ham
- Maple Syrup – Make sure to use pure maple syrup
- Brown Sugar – Light brown sugar works best in this recipe
- Dijon Mustard – I prefer Dijon but you can also use whole grain mustard
- Orange Zest & Orange Juice – This adds extra flavor, but if you don’t have it on hand you can use cold water as well
- Spices & Seasonings – For this recipe I like to keep it simple and use rosemary and black pepper
How To Make a Maple Glazed Spiral Ham
Combine maple syrup, brown sugar, mustard, orange zest and juice in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Place room temperature ham cut side down in a roasting pan or a casserole dish lined with aluminum foil. Spread a third of the brown sugar maple glaze all over the surface of the ham and place in a 350º F degree preheated oven. Baste the ham every 30 minutes with the remaining glaze.
Bake ham 10 – 12 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140ºF – remember, the ham is already fully cooked so it just needs to be reheated with an added burst of flavor. Make sure the ham rests for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
Best Tips for Reheating & Storing
- Make sure to slice the entire ham before storing it in an airtight container for leftovers.
- To prevent the leftover ham from drying out, I prefer to reheat the ham slices in the oven.
- You can freeze the ham bone for soups or making broths.
Maple Glazed Ham
Ingredients
- 8 lb Spiral Ham
- 1 cup Maple Syrup
- 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar
- 3 tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 2 tbsp Orange Zest
- 1/4 cup Orange Juice, fresh squeezed
- 2 tbsp Rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 tbsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- In a bowl combine maple syrup, brown sugar, mustard, orange zest and juice in and whisk.
- Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil and place room temperature ham cut side down.
- Spread a third of the brown sugar maple glaze all over the surface of the ham and place in a 350º F degree preheated oven.
- Baste the ham every 30 minutes with the remaining glaze.
- When ham reaches an internal temp of 140ºF remove from oven and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
