On Friday, Weekend Craft reached over 1,000 Facebook fans! We could not be more ecstatic! And because we love our readers we thought this could be a great way to reward them. Make sure to stick around to the bottom of the post and enter to win $500 just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Ever just have a vision for a project, clear as day, but it just does not come out at all or even close to how you expected? This is another addition to add to our craft fail shelf. I had recently heard that Mod Podge came out with sheer tinted colors. You’ve probably seen people on Pinterest tinting mason jars different colors, you can use the sheer tint Mod Podge to do that.

So why couldn’t I do that on a glass frame in a chevron pattern?! Sort of creating a stained glass effect.

The intention was to use stencil vinyl to cut a chevron background over the glass of a frame and then overlay a vinyl Valentine’s related message. If only it was that easy.

I painted a few coats the Mod Podge over the pattern stencil but when I went to peel of the stencil not only did the stencil come off but also the Mod Podge. The Mod Podge has become one with the stencil vinyl and acted more as a sticker.

At least pulling of the stencil vinyl left the glass clean and back to its almost original state. At least I can use it again?! I am still excited about the new sheer tint Mod Podge but maybe I will stick to mason jars at first!

Make sure to enter the giveaway below! Weekend Craft and 20 other bloggers have come together to spread the love for Valentine’s Day.

Let me know if you want to see more giveaways like this or go back to focusing just on projects!

  1. Mark and I have plans for a little getaway over Valentine’s…and I have digital Valentines I’m planning to send to my family! Thanks for the fun giveaway. I personally enjoy entering giveaways, but I think projects should be your #1 content! Oh, and I’m so sorry your brilliant idea did not work out. 🙁 Way to go ahead and just share the honest moment with us anyway! I believe in that! (You should totally tweet this to Heather from Dollar Store Crafts. She is writing a book on craft fails and is looking for more projects to include. This might be a good candidate! Oh, and you get paid if she uses one of your photos! Win win.)

  2. Valentine Crafts with the kids. Surprise treat and note in their lunches. Hopefully a nice date with hubby. Visiting my Great Aunt who is alone.

  3. I had a little laugh about your fail…I laughed WITH you, not AT you! I’m sure we’ve all had many fails as you call it..I call them learning experiences! Congrats on 1,000 lies! $500 would go a long way in feeding my crafting habit!

  4. My husband and I are getting a babysitter (my mom!!) and just spending the day together. It’s been a long time since that has happened!! And of course, we will show our love to my mom as well to make sure she knows how appreciative we are to her for coming to watch our son!!

  5. Our best friends will be visiting us from California- we’re really excited for a double date and taking them to the beach.

  6. I was so excited to see the project. Bummer it didn’t work. Thank you for being honest and showing us the end results. I have had a few of those. My husband and I are going to FL to spend some family time with our son.

  7. Hi Michelle,

It was such a great idea! Too bad it didn’t work. I kind of like that you shared your "Epic Fail", sometimes we tend to think we are the only ones that get it wrong and we think everyone else only does amazing projects all the time! Thanks for hosting the Give-a-way! It would be a blast to win $500 in craft products!!!

    Peace, Love and Joy,Joyce

  8. Hi Michelle,

I’m "spreading the LOVE" for Valentine’s Day by hosting stamp camps to make Valentine’s Day cards! I have one group of women who are making cards to give their kids & grandkids, one group that is making cards to take to the local Veteran’s Hospital and a group of school kids that are making them for their Moms. I also have made a bunch of wrapped Ghiradelli chocolates that I’ll hand out to waitresses, customer service people, etc. when I’m running errands.

    Peace, Love and Joy,Joyce
