I woke up this morning and had to put a sweatshirt on….it’s official summer is over. It’s weird because I haven’t felt this way the past two years. Being a northern transplant in the south there was not much of a difference between Summer and Fall but back in New England I feel the weather starting to change, I can even smell the difference in the air.

Monday morning we ventured out to Bartlett Farms. Looking at the map it didn’t look far from the bus stop. We decided since there was a poetry reading we should dress nicer for the occasion. Little did we know we still had a two-mile walk to the farm. With the sun beating down on us and flip-flops knocking against the pavement we finally made it to the farm with a few minutes to spare.
We were greeted warmly by Tom Mallouk, author of Nantucket Revisited, and his wife. Tom has been coming to the Island since the 1969 choosing to vacation on the island every year. With the sun beating down on us we listened to Tom’s melodic voice.
I am embarking on a fun filled two weeks to Nantucket with one of my favorite travel companions, Hannah. We will be participating in an artist residency at the Nantucket Island School of Art and Design. I am so looking forward to two weeks of sunshine, island breeze, exploring, biking, painting and working on some new products for etsy. Look out for some new blog posts and projects in the coming week.
I seek inspiration for my projects from objects I can repurpose. I tend to scour Goodwill, Savers, Salvation Army and on occasion flea markets or antique shops. I typically will look for mirrors and frames to paint or make into cork or chalkboards.
